Principal Transport Analyst

Andy is the Principal Transport Analyst in the Traffic Directorate at Transport for London. His role is to lead a team of analysts in the task of monitoring the performance of the broad base of Streets activities in Transport for London (TfL) Surface Transport, analysing the results and comparing these to the organisation’s performance objectives as well as the development of performance indicators and the capabilities and expertise required to monitor London’s road network performance. His research interests are:

  • The monitoring and comprehension of road network performance in a complex urban context.
  • Development of indicators for monitoring road network performance (Journey Time Reliability etc)
  • Comprehending cause-effect relationships to explain road network performance outcomes.
His team are also responsible for the delivery of projects that will deliver improved road network performance and require detailed economic evaluations, such as the cost benefit assessment for the introduction of permitting for streets works in London. To support these tasks he with Transport for London is supporting the work of the STANDARD project with the aim that it delivers tools and research results that can help Transport for London understand the causes of congestion in London, thereby helping delivering better operational and strategic responses to this issue in the future.
